Why a fade and not a warning
The fade is desaturation, not a color change. There's no red, no alarm icon, no "you've fallen behind" framing. The point is to help you notice things you used to do — not to make you feel bad about not doing them.
A couple of edge cases
Tasks with a custom interval set keep their icon at full color — the tile's gentle glow handles the visual cue instead, so you're not getting two signals at once.
Tasks you've never logged also show as gently faded, so they're easy to spot in your list.
